Although he is talented in many different fields such as writing short stories, composing plays, writing poems and drawing pictures… but he is considered as one of the most talented playwrights of modern Vietnamese literature and art. Among many plays of Luu Quang Vu, the most notable is the play “Zhang Ba’s soul, butcher’s skin”. With the unique art of delicate interior construction, scene VII, the last part of the play brings readers a lot of profound ideological problems through the character Truong Ba in the body of a butcher. Please refer to some articles analyzing the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the butcher’s corpse that Toplist has compiled in the article below.

Analysis of the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the flesh of the butcher No. 2

Born in a tumultuous historical period, Luu Quang Vu’s motivation to write poetry and plays is “the desire to participate in and the intense flow of life, to be given and given”. With the bravery of a writer who always aspires to be himself, to write what his heart aches, Luu Quang Vu does not hesitate to plunge his pen into reality to reflect current issues of philosophical significance. and universal. Through the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the butcher’s body, the author has implicitly conveyed profound messages about the relationship between soul and body.

Due to the negligence of Nam Cao and Bac Dau that Truong Ba had to die unjustly, Emperor Thich helped Truong Ba come back to life by importing his soul into the flesh of a butcher. However, that inadvertently brought Truong Ba into another adversity when his soul had to rely on someone else’s body. Due to living temporarily and dependently, Truong Ba gradually lost his pure and upright nature by the flesh. Aware of that, Truong Ba tormented, suffered and decided to fight back by separating from the butcher’s flesh: “No! Are not! I don’t want to live like this forever!” The soul’s dialogue is short exclamation sentences, the words are rushed, urging to express the tension, pressing suffering, tormenting to the extreme, unable to endure the torment any longer. Listening to the soul’s monologue, the body immediately said: “You can’t be separated from me”. While the soul is both negative and scornful, thinking that the flesh “has no voice” but is just an “outer shell” without thoughts, without emotions, reaffirming its position and impact. : “It is because of the darkness and blindness that I have tremendous power, sometimes even surpassing your noble soul.” After the body’s scornful words, the spirit continued to poke fun: “When you were at my house… When you stood next to my wife, your limbs were shaking, your breathing was hot, your throat was tight.”

With concrete evidence, the soul was ashamed and resolutely denied: “It’s you, your limbs, your breath”. If the soul constantly denies, the body blatantly admits that Truong Ba is also full of beasts, has bodily needs and enjoyment. Step by step, the body leads the island into the undeniable truth: the soul has been more or less contaminated, corrupted by the lust of the body. At this time, the soul’s line hesitated as if out of breath: “I… I told you to shut up”. The soul is cornered to be forced to acknowledge the domination of the body. The body emphasizes the truth that the soul is trying to escape, to deny, pushing the dramatic situation to the climax. The soul only tries to justify, resist and save: “I still have a life of my own: intact, clean, straightforward”. The corpse also stopped the sharp words to expose the pain that is festering in the soul. It is thanks to the strength of the body that the soul can “slap the son with blood in his mouth and nose”. Knowing the soul has been cornered, determining a compromise contract to live together, luring the soul into the “soul game”. At this point, the desperate soul can only lament the helplessness of the sky.

Two images of Truong Ba’s soul and butcher’s body here have metaphorical meanings: one side represents purity, aspiration to live a noble life and the other is mediocrity and vulgarity. The content of the dialogue revolves around a philosophical issue, showing the persistent struggle between the two existing sides of a person, thereby expressing the desire for good and the importance of self-awareness. , win myself. Not only that, the author also warned: when people have to live in vulgarity and mediocrity, vulgarity will inevitably reign, prevail and overwhelm and destroy what is pure and beautiful inside. people.

Through the dialogue between soul and body, Luu Quang Vu also conveyed new conceptions of man: man is a unity between soul and body, outside and inside, the sublime and the earthly. Therefore, human life has meaning only if there is a balance between material and spiritual life. If we promote the spirit but negate the instinctive needs, it is inhuman and anti-human. And when only running after trivial ambitions, people will lower themselves to a vulgar and instinctive lifestyle.

Analysis of the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the flesh of the butcher No. 6

Luu Quang Vu is considered the most talented playwright of modern Vietnamese literature. On the theater stages stretching from the north to the south at that time, it was indispensable for the silhouette of Luu Quang Vu’s play. “Truong Ba’s Soul, Butcher’s Skin” is one of the most outstanding plays of his career, especially the dialogue between soul and body that painfully reflects the tragedy of Truong Ba’s alienation – person with a noble character and a kind heart.

From the folk plot, Luu Quang Vu has reconstructed it into a modern oral play and inserted many humanistic philosophies about life and people. In the work, Truong Ba is an old man in his sixties, who likes to plant gardens, loves beauty, has an elegant soul, and is good at playing chess. Just because of Nam Cao’s negligence, Bac Dau crossed out the wrong name that Truong Ba died unjustly. According to the advice of the “fairy chess” De Thich, Nam Tao, Bac Dau “corrected” by allowing Truong Ba’s soul to continue living in the body of a recently deceased butcher near his home. But that brought Truong Ba and a adversity when his soul had to rely on others. Due to living temporarily and dependently, Truong Ba gradually lost his pure and upright nature by the flesh. Aware of that, Truong Ba tormented, suffered and decided to resist by separating from the flesh. Through Truong Ba’s dialogues, the author accurately reflected the tragedy of being alienated while his soul stayed in the body of Truong Ba’s character, Hang Meat.

First of all, Truong Ba was the one who died unjustly and so he was compensated by living in the body of Hang Butcher. It was thought that it was happiness because of being alive, but who would have thought that it was the source of all tragedies in later life. The pure and noble soul could not be reconciled with the vulgar and ordinary body, so there was a time when Truong Ba was overwhelmed by the flesh and lost his inherent nobility. The debate between soul and body is very intense and difficult to compromise. Truong Ba was holding his head, suffering to the extreme because he didn’t want to live in that mediocre body anymore, but the butcher’s body used abusive words and insulted Truong Ba: thanks to the body, it was a vase. containing the soul, thanks to the body, Truong Ba could see the sky and see the earth, befriend with plants and trees. At first, Truong Ba also used eloquent words to expose the vulgarity of Hang Butcher’s body, but then gradually weakened before the body’s words. The coup d’etat took place very spectacularly: Truong Ba from the active person was led to the passive position, the corpse of Hang Meat from the man who had little reason to become overwhelmed before Truong Ba’s soul. The corpse blatantly exposed the times when Truong Ba could not control the petty instinctive desires of the flesh but had to indulge them: “When you stood next to my wife, hands and feet trembling, breathing hot, throat choked… That night, almost… Could it be that you weren’t agitated at all?” Those extremely mean words seemed to cut another mark on Truong Ba’s self-esteem. A person whom even Emperor Thich had to respect with all his heart was now unmasked in front of a mean and insignificant flesh. Truong Ba is no longer the Truong Ba of the day before, he has changed, there were times when he was discouraged by trivial, petty desires, inherent human instincts. A pure soul no longer gives the flesh an opportunity to assert its position and importance. Truong Ba was exhausted before it and couldn’t do anything more.

Not only that, but Hang Butcher’s body still had turbid water left to fish, once again insulting Truong Ba: “Ha ha, the blood soup, the ancient tofu, the tail cut, and all sorts of other interesting things did not make his soul jittery. How’s the feeling?” The dishes of the butcher’s ward with blood soup, antiques, and tails, such trivial things that Truong Ba could not control. So it turns out that “Truong Ba is as mediocre as the flesh, but he still comes up to disparage the flesh” – perhaps the Butcher is trying to delve into this or not? Truong Ba is no longer the noble man that everyone respects anymore, he has succumbed to the mediocrity of the butcher’s guild, moved by temporary desires. The tragedy of being corrupted by Truong Ba came here clearly. The reader is bitter and bitter for Truong Ba, but at the same time realizes a truth: When people cannot control themselves before vulgar and trivial things, people will easily succumb to them, turning themselves into strangers. void. As a self-respecting person, Truong Ba understands that more than anyone, and feels even more ashamed when he is sometimes subjugated by them. Carrying the shame of being corrupted, can Truong Ba continue to live in the flesh?

In the beginning, the flesh was always the one at the bottom, but through the dialogue, spectacularly swapped positions, overpowered the soul, and then leisurely took the upper hand. That further pushed the dramatic climax because Truong Ba’s soul was completely exhausted before the petty but very eloquent and convincing arguments of the butcher’s body. Thereby, we see the hidden tragedy of the character Truong Ba’s alienation, a pain that no one can share. The excerpt also conveys profound messages: know how to control yourself against temporary temptations, against the mediocrity of instincts so as not to be confused by the boundary between the noble and the vulgar, to keep keep yourself clean and honest.

With just a small conversation, Luu Quang Vu showed his talented play-writing ability. Not only highlighting the tragedy of Truong Ba, but the author also skillfully sends messages, philosophies and deep reflections about people. Perhaps that’s why until now, Luu Quang Vu’s plays still light up bright flames in big theaters to remind the next generation.

Analysis of the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the flesh of the butcher No. 1

Luu Quang Vu (1948 – 1988) was originally from Da Nang, born in Ha Hoa district, Phu Tho province. From 1978 until his death, he was the editor of Theater magazine. Luu Quang Vu died with his wife and children in a tragic traffic accident, while his talent was in full bloom. He was considered as one of the most talented playwrights of modern Vietnamese art, who had great merit in helping to revive a stage that was in danger of falling behind at that time. Luu Quang Vu’s drama is gradually absorbed mainly by conflicts in the way of life and conception of life, thereby affirming the desire to perfect human personality. The play Truong Ba’s Soul, the butcher’s skin is the most famous work of Luu Quang Vu, completed in 1984 by the author, first performed in 1987. The excerpt belongs to scene VII and the end of the play, questioning On the topic of human life through suffering inside and outside on the other, through extreme contradictions between soul and body, the play contains philosophical problems of life: living off, living falsely, living without is me, that is the greatest tragedy of a human being. To convey that noble philosophy of life, Luu Quang Vu has built a dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the flesh of a butcher full of profound metaphors.

Mr. Truong Ba is a gardener, about 50 years old, honest, upright and good at chess. His personality is kind, he lives in harmony with everyone. Just because of the negligence and irresponsibility of Nam Cao and Bac Dau in heaven, Mr. Truong Ba had to die unjustly. The chess fairy, De Thich, was frustrated and because he regretted a talented chess player, he allowed Truong Ba’s soul to enter the body of a butcher who had just died one day. Truong Ba’s soul has since lived in the butcher’s body. Everyone thought it was a favorable solution for Truong Ba, so that this gentle man could continue to live peacefully in his family. But ironically, it is the rebirth in another’s body that is Truong Ba’s misfortune. In his own family, he was criticized, shunned and despised by his relatives. Truong Ba’s soul was cornered in the most suffering: being aware of his own corruption, being harassed by the rich, seeing a spoiled son who could not be taught,… All these things made him he couldn’t stand it anymore, couldn’t succumb to the body, to the evils, and lost himself. Truong Ba’s soul could not live with the butcher’s body, separating from the body to argue.

The debate between the soul on one side and the body on the other was fierce and without compromise. The butcher’s body appeared to overwhelm Truong Ba’s soul, insulting Truong Ba’s soul. Truong Ba’s soul felt the pain to the extreme and found it impossible to bear it any longer. The flesh butcher wants to assert its position, role and importance: I am the vessel to contain the soul. Thanks to me, he was able to work and hoe. He looked at heaven and earth, trees, loved ones… Thanks to my eyes, he perceived the world through my senses… Corpse sought to compromise by specifying his own needs. natural human nature: When he was at my house… When he stood next to my wife, his limbs trembling, his breathing hot, his throat constricted… That night, almost.. […] Are you not troubled at all? Ha ha, doesn’t that dish of blood soup, tofu, curried tail, and all kinds of other interesting things make your soul lightheaded? … And Truong Ba’s soul denies the role of the body but affirms the purity of the soul which is far from other lowly procedures: You are just an outer shell, have no meaning at all, no have thoughts, no feelings {. .] Or if so, it’s just the lowly things, which any animal can have: a craving for good food, a craving for wine and meat; We still have a life of our own: intact, clean, straightforward… The arguments of both sides have some truths that are hard to refute, making it impossible for victory or defeat to be resolved quickly, simple.

Due to living off the butcher’s body, Truong Ba’s soul had to comply with some obvious needs of the body. More frightening, Truong Ba’s soul gradually became infected with the trivial things of the butcher’s corpse. Aware of that, Truong Ba’s soul tormented, suffered and decided to fight by separating from the flesh to exist independently, not dependent on the body. The butcher’s body knew that those efforts were futile, so he laughed at Truong Ba’s soul, proclaimed his terrible blind and dark power, and flirted with Truong Ba’s soul to compromise with him because according to the flesh, There is no other way, the two have merged into one. Before the petty arguments of the butcher’s body, Truong Ba’s soul was angry, despised, scolded the vile body, but at the same time, deeply absorbed in the adversity he was in, he had to return to the flesh. in despair.

Building these two special characters, Luu Quang Vu used contrasting measures to highlight the fundamental difference between the soul of this person and the body of the other. Mr. Truong Ba was originally a simple, gentle and elegant gardener. Truong Ba’s soul symbolizes elegance, purity, purity, and morality. The soul is the true part of every human being. On the contrary, the butcher with a muscular, bulky, rude body… symbolizes instinct, worldly desires. This is actually a metaphor, the butcher’s body is a metaphor for the human body, while Truong Ba’s soul is for the human soul. The author has created a compelling metaphorical situation, prompting readers to think deeply: people cannot live without themselves, cannot live falsely or borrow other people’s lives. Humans not only live by the body but also have to live by the soul, emotions, … The warping of the soul and body will be a tragedy.

The dialogue between soul and body is precisely the conflict that takes place within the character himself, the two parts of a person. Between the butcher’s body and Truong Ba’s soul, there is an opposition between many factors such as good – bad, noble – profane, instinct – reason,… Through this, Luu Quang Vu wants to affirm: nothing is happy. equal to being able to live as you are, with what you’ve got. That way life will be peaceful, light and meaningful. Life is precious, but it’s not meant to be lived. Life has value only when people return to their true nature, live in a unified body.

Analysis of the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the flesh of the butcher No. 4

“Man is not born to disappear like a faceless grain of sand. They were born to leave their mark on the ground, to leave their mark on everyone’s hearts.” If every human being was born to fulfill that duty for the rest of his life, Luu Quang Vu (1948 – 1988) was a great screenwriter. of Vietnamese literature has done that with the work “The soul of Truong Ba butcher’s skin” within a short period of human life from 1981 to 1983, especially with the answer to the verse he seemed to think. as left open “There are times when my soul is torn /… I know what to do, where do I know where to go?” through the construction of the dialogue of the soul of Truong Ba with the body and relatives, creating a conflict that has the standard measure of later Vietnamese drama:

“The soul of Truong Ba, the butcher’s skin” is a story that is not very typical for fairy poetry if placed next to the Tam Cam, The hundred-burnt bamboo tree, Thach Sanh… we have read it. However, looking at it from an angle. Looking at the narrative, it is also easy to identify the basic elements that create the fairy nuance for the work: That is the character, the situation, the plot development, the miracle that brings luck to people.. And although this folk tale still has a subtle imprint of the Confucian ancestors, the character of chess king De Thich can still be considered a type of “Buddha”, “Fairy” who came to the world to save and compensate. compensate for the loss and pain of the world. And with a character type of the motif of gentle people, Truong Ba was originally a gardener, a chess player, but got into a difficult and strange situation: living happily with his family, suddenly died. unjustly and then resurrected, but had to live in another body, a butcher’s body with a completely opposite nature. This patchwork begins the process of intense conflict between the soul and the body. Truong Ba suffered greatly because his noble soul had to live depending on the corpse that he considered to be murky, blind, without thoughts, without emotions. This dependence made him gradually become a different person, losing his inherent qualities. That change is exactly as Huan Cao once told the prison warden when the good and the beautiful exist together with the bad. “…it’s hard to keep the heavens healthy, and then it’s come to tarnish the whole life of honesty”

The focus of the drama class is the dialogue between the soul and the corpse of Truong Ba. Therefore, the dialogue here can be considered as a monologue as well as a dialogue. It is a special dialogue, containing both contradiction and action, promoting the dramatic situation to the highest level. The dialogue between Soul and Body is the culmination of the play’s philosophical thought. That dialogue, along with the attitudes and dialogues of the closest relatives, led to drastic action – resolutely denying Truong Ba’s life of a patchwork of soul and body. Luu Quang Vu allowed his character to choose a seemingly negative but necessary and correct path: Leaving this world to be himself, to keep in the memory of loved ones good memories. about yourself. Some researchers believe that “the struggle between “Zhang Ba’s Soul” and “Butcher’s Skin” is actually a battle between two souls in one body.

After a few months of living inside one side, outside the other, the character Truong Ba’s soul becomes more and more alien to his family members and conflicts with himself. The soul sat holding its head for a long time, then suddenly stood up and broke into a tearful monologue: “No, no, I don’t want to live like this anymore. I’m tired of living in a place that’s not mine. I begin to fear you, wanting to leave your bulky, rude body at once.”

Entering the scene 7 images of Truong Ba appearing of a person sitting “holding his head” showed the reader the image of a lonely person appearing in front of the screen full of invasive suffering combined at the same time. of three consecutive negations of “no…no…no” in a decisive tone an urgent monologue affirming his desire to leave the butcher’s body. “I’m tired of living in a place that’s not mine” full of boredom, fed up of Truong Ba’s soul is in a very frustrated and miserable mood. Soul’s lines are exclamatory sentences, short, fast-paced and urgent. Expressing tension, pressing suffering, tormenting, desperate to the extreme, unable to endure the torment any longer, so he suddenly stood up. The soul suffers because I am no longer myself. Truong Ba is now clumsy, rude, and rude. Truong Ba’s soul also fell into a state of despair. by Truong Ba: “you can’t be separated from me”.

In that hopeless stalemate, Truong Ba suddenly heard the words from the corpse that could only respond with his own astonishment: “Ah, you also know how to say that?” Truong Ba was surprised, responded by asking a question then repeatedly protesting the body, still scornful. The way we address you clearly shows our disdain and disdain for the body, “Ridiculous! You can’t speak! You don’t have a voice, you’re just a murky, blind flesh..” At first, he let go of slanderous words. Seeing the Soul both negating and scorning himself, Confirming the position and impact, thinking. of his own: “You already know my voice, have always been dictated by it,” and “a mighty power that overwhelms even the high soul.” The Soul continues to negate the voice of the Body: “You are just a shell, have no meaning at all, have no thoughts, no feelings”.

Hearing Soul’s low evaluation of himself, Corpse asked again defiantly, his voice changing sarcastically, “Is that true?”. The Body’s question made the Soul falter and lose reason, forced to give in gradually, confirming the influence of the Body: “if there are, then it is only the inferior things, which any animal can have: craving delicious food, craving for wine and meat…” Again being scorned by the Soul, Confirming his own benefits, he turned to sarcasm and irony: “Of course, of course.” Full of irony: “When he was in next to my house… When he stood next to my wife, his limbs were shaking, his breathing was hot, his throat was tight… “That night, almost…” It was a feeling of “fluttering” “emotional floating” which the Soul previously considered “normal”. With concrete evidence, Soul was embarrassed and resolutely denied: “It’s you, your limbs, your breath”. The corpse affirms and asks again to attack again: “Then I am not jealous! Who would be jealous of one’s own body…but let’s be honest: Aren’t you worried at all? In order to satisfy me, won’t you attend a little bit?” Thus, the Body leads the Soul into the undeniable truth – the Soul has been more or less contaminated and corrupted by the lust of the body. The butcher’s corpse recalls all those truths, making the soul feel even more ashamed, feeling inferior. The corpse’s arguments hit the black spot that has long been residing in the butcher’s corpse, the pure Truong Ba’s soul. has been discolored. The helpless soul cried out, ordering physical restraint to hide his embarrassment, confusion, hesitation, weakness, “I… I… told you to shut up!” Soul’s lines hesitated to reason as if he was out of breath. The Soul is cornered to be forced to acknowledge the domination of the Body. Determined once again: “We have already become one”. The corpse pressed on the painful truth that the Soul wanted to escape, wanted to deny, pushing the dramatic situation to the climax. The soul only tries to justify and defend it: “I still have a life of my own: intact, clean, straightforward …”. The corpse still did not let go, attacking with sarcasm “When you have to exist because of me, comply with my demands, but also claim to be intact, clean, straightforward!”. Faced with the undeniable truth, the Soul reacts negatively by “closing his ears”.

It was a desperate attempt at denial that was completely deadlocked. The corpse continued to use dangerous words as sharp as a scalpel, revealing the pain that was oozing pus in the Soul. It is thanks to the power of the Body that the Soul can: “slap your son with bloody mouth and nose”. Although he tried to cover his ears, when he heard the Body say that, the Soul had to deny “the power that makes us brutal”. The wise body knows that it is a mistake, so it justifies itself with arguments: “is the situation” “also worthy of respect”, not guilty. The soul only reacts weakly: “But…But” Realizing that the Soul is cornered, the Corpse makes a compromise contract to live together, the voice caressing and caressing the body actively brings the soul game: When he was alone, he thought that he had a pure soul inside, but because of the circuTaxances, in order to live, he had to give in to me. When you have done bad things, you can blame me, let you rest in peace…as long as…you still do all kinds of things to satisfy my cravings: The body will “touch” the Soul by sympathizing with “those things.” mind game”, accepting all bad things as long as the Soul still “does everything to satisfy its cravings” of the Body. Perceiving the “mean reason” of the Body and Soul as hopeless and helpless: God! was an acceptance of fate in excruciating pain trying to find a way out but was completely helpless. In this dialogue, the corpse prevailed, so he enthusiastically poured out long lines with a voice that sometimes sarcastically laughed and sometimes taught life, criticized, and sarcastically. The soul only let go of short lines with a timid voice accompanied by groans and cries.

Through the dialogue between the soul and the body, the body clearly emerges with the preponderance of the one who holds the supremacy, demonstrating its terrible dominion over the soul, it also reveals the misunderstanding of itself. when the soul thinks that “I still have a pure, original, straightforward private life…” The soul and the body are inherently inseparable, the struggle to keep the soul and the body is the struggle to keep the noble and the sexual. hopeless, lowly; between the child and the human part. That is Luu Quang Vu’s profound warning: When people live too long in a vulgar environment, they will be dominated by vulgarity, unable to have a noble soul in a mortal, sinful body. . When people are dominated by instinctive needs, do not blame the body. It is not possible to comfort oneself with the metaphysical beauty of the soul, so protecting and perfecting that human personality is a big problem for each individual and the whole society. It will be a long struggle as long as people still exist in this society.

If Luu Quang Vu allowed Truong Ba to end his life in an impasse there, we would think of the endings in the era of Critical Realism literature that Nam Cao wrote: “He yawns, wants to yawn. said, but didn’t say a word “, or the scene where Sister Dau ran outside “as dark as ink as her future”..vv…. But entering a new era, and inherently Luu Quang Vu was also not a writer class of Critical Reality of the Democratic Front Era Critical Realism 30-45…… So Truong Ba’s life continued to be drawn. go out.

It doesn’t stop at just a dialogue that follows tragedy after tragedy. The second tragedy of Truong Ba’s soul is the tragedy of not being acknowledged by relatives. Truong Ba was no longer himself, so he was shunned by his relatives and pushed up the inherent suffering of Truong Ba. The suffering and despair of Soul Truong Ba is pushed up when he talks with his loved ones:

As soon as the conversation ended, Truong Ba’s soul was sitting quietly by the cot, when his wife came in and asked: “Has the Girl not returned yet?” Truong Ba’s soul blankly replied: “No.” Truong Ba’s wife continued to explain: “He went to Uncle Ti’s house early. Cu Ti is seriously ill.” Truong Ba’s soul did not hide his surprise and said: “Sick? Yet I don’t know.” The first two lines are just normal communication without any sign of bringing the next storm for Truong Ba at this time, from the third line: “Who do you know now that Cu Ti is the most sickly? Born… Poor boy is that… Why didn’t my body let go of my free time “was a complete change in the emotions of resentment, anger, and even more bitterness of self-pity and shame that no matter what? force. Not letting his wife speak any more, Truong Ba’s soul interrupted: Why do you say that. Listening to her husband’s words, the wife went straight to the problem that she was heartbroken: “I’m telling the truth… Mr. Truong Ba, I’ve thought about it carefully … Maybe I have to go”. Truong Ba’s soul asked again: “Where are you going?”. The wife continued to speak honestly with many sulks: “I don’t know! Going to work as a hired laborer… go away so he can relax…with the butcher’s wife.. What’s better than this?”. Hearing his wife’s words, Truong Ba’s soul could only scream: “Grandma! Why have you come to this trouble?” Wife: “Only now.. he is no longer Mr. Truong Ba….The big boy decided to sell the garden to have money to open more capital butcher shop. Zhang Ba’s soul was so surprised that he said, “Really? Can not!”. Hear the husband’s objection to his wife: “You say no, but I know it will turn out like this. You will have to accept it like that.” Truong Ba’s wife, although very loving her husband, was rich in altruism, but in the end, she still fell into an impasse. The ellipsis combined with exclamation and tearful words…cry… fully express sadness and helplessness. In the dialogue with Truong Ba’s wife, using only short sentences, consecutive questions along with exclamation sentences showed his shock and confusion. At the end of the conversation with his wife, the voice calls “Grandma!” sobbing because it was helplessness, choking pain that could not be put into words. At the end of this conversation, Truong Ba’s soul could only sit down and hold his head.

When Truong Ba’s soul looked up and saw a girl standing in front of her, Truong Ba’s soul called out to her grandson as if asking for help: “Girl, grandchild!” It was no longer just an ordinary call, but a cry of a heart emanating from the mouth longing for a fulcrum, sympathy for help. Perhaps at that time, Truong Ba thought that his little granddaughter was going to fall into his arms, but on the contrary, the Girl, Truong Ba’s niece reacted fiercely and violently: She stepped back and said that she had created a distance not only in terms of face. space but also the soul between him and his grandchild then say: “I am not your grandchild”. The sentence was like a bucket of cold water thrown directly into the face of Truong Ba’s soul. But Truong Ba’s soul remained calm and patiently explained, affirming: “You are really my grandfather. If my grandfather shows up, I will strangle him.” Truong Ba’s soul still tries to convince with evidence despite threats from his granddaughter: “Every morning he goes out to hoe and take care of the trees in the garden … only my grandfather knows how precious trees are.” Trying to explain to his nephew, Truong Ba’s voice became more hesitant later on; The three dots appearing continuously was an inexplicable stalemate. The childhood soul was pure, did not accept the mediocrity and vulgarity, so it did not accept the grandfather in the raw butcher’s body. hole. Girl, your grandson now doesn’t have to keep his mind. It always refuses to be close. Because it is so loving and respectful of poetry, now it can’t accept, nor can it open its heart to admit the person in front of you who has a “hand to kill pigs”, The “big shovel” foot made the girl not let go, continuing to tell the crime of “breaking the young bud”, “stepping over and crushing the precious new-grown ginseng tree” in her grandfather’s garden. It hates him because he repaired Cu Ti’s kite and broke it, causing Cu Ti to cry, keep crying, keep complaining. With it, “Grandpa was never so rude and cruel”. The anger of the Girl turned into condemnation, abandonment, and chased away loved ones: “You are so ugly, so evil! Go away! Old butcher, go away!”.

Thus, the Girl is the one who loves and sticks with him to the fullest. He died, crying every night, cherishing every little bit of his memories. Now back to backlash. Cruel, harsh words. Denied and chased away Truong Ba’s soul. Consecutive exclamation marks with tears running while crying and running The fierce reaction of a child whose soul is pure, with only two colors of light and dark, resolutely refusing to accept evil, evil has made the Soul Zhang Ba trembled, looked at himself again. The words of the little grandchild, once again sifted into his deep pain, so that he could feel the tragedy of being rejected by his loved ones.

The sister-in-law in the house came out and heard the last words of the Girl. On the one hand, she called after her daughter: “Girl, come back here, Girl”. Her sister-in-law is a profound, mature person who understands more than truth. On one hand, she turned to Truong Ba’s soul: “Teacher, don’t be angry with the child … Just because he thinks you are not his grandfather, I coaxed him. No matter how much it spends, it does not listen to (tears) the teacher’s suffering”. Truong Ba’s soul felt warm: “At this point, the whole family alone still loves you like before”. The daughter-in-law added: “More than before…but teacher, I’m scared…every day you are changing… sometimes I don’t even recognize you…how can I keep you? as good as our teacher in the past”? Truong Ba’s soul was disappointed and sad again: “Now you too…”? The person who did not rush to correct said: “Teacher, do not be angry if I have said something wrong”. “No, I’m not angry. Thank you for telling the truth. Now go, let me sit still for a moment.” Truong Ba seemed to be somewhat comforted, because he realized that the girl loved him very much, he thought that his daughter-in-law would be a fulcrum to share his feelings. But before the loving and frank words of his daughter-in-law, Truong Ba, was as silent as a rock of suffering to the extreme full of fear. Perhaps at that time, Truong Ba was like a person standing in front of a deep abyss that desperately needed someone to hold on to, but the result was still a hopeless stalemate.

All of these people: people are bitter and sullen, feel sorry for themselves (wife), people are angry and chased away (grandchildren); Others understand and share (daughter-in-law) but they realize and suffer before Truong Ba’s change. Although he loved and wanted to hold on to the old Truong Ba, he found a solution to get out of the situation, but ironically, they were powerless. It was the tragedy of Truong Ba’s soul being pushed to the climax. Even the closest people do not accept the situation of two souls, the inconsistency of their husbands, fathers and grandfathers. Without the foundation family of a hopeless clinging to the ground that makes no sense and seems to no longer exist. Truong Ba understood that he had lost everything and fell into a state of complete loneliness. It is tragedy within tragedy!

The dialogue between Truong Ba and his relatives It is not coincidental that the author did not include Truong Ba’s pragmatic son in Truong Ba’s dialogue with his relatives because Truong Ba’s son was abused. corrupt, so perhaps the love for only more or less corrupts. Conversations with his wife, daughter-in-law and granddaughter made Truong Ba even more miserable. He understands all that he has, is causing and perhaps if it exists, the tragedy will continue and burn the negative direction even more. What does Truong Ba live for when what the soul is still alive is to bring happiness to his loved ones is the complete opposite, meaningless.

The continuous questions “how can I give in to you, surrender to you and lose yourself?….there is no other way” that is really a fierce vortex that is tearing and swirling in Truong’s heart. Three then led to a decision to give up the body as a desire to be liberated not only for themselves but also for their loved ones. Truong Ba’s soul definitely burned incense to invite the immortal Emperor Thich to say goodbye to that life.

This way of choosing a way of life, a way of resurrecting the soul as it was, gradually disappearing, opened up for Truong Ba new challenges and new choices in the dialogue with Emperor Thich. But that is how Luu Quang Vu highlights the beauty of his personality that is still shining in that part of his soul that seems to have faded. Then Truong Ba lived the human part in its capitalized sense.

“I don’t want to write words like that

I can’t write words like that

…

I tore away the paper wreath of mist

Foolish joys weak sorrows

Unfinished life

Need to contribute, no need to sit and praise”

Luu Quang Vu is known to readers and the public as a poet. But he resonated and was admired as a brilliant playwright. And with a view that his compositions are not for praise, but simply to contribute to the unfinished life, through his works, he has conveyed meaningful messages of life. The play “Spirit of Truong Ba butcher’s skin”, especially the dialogue between the soul of the father and the butcher’s skin, is a critical voice criticizing the negative problems of life through stories in daily and vivid life. . Show the author’s perspective as well as the messages he sends.

Before the dialogue between the soul and the body, Luu Quang Vu let the spirit of Truong Ba “sit with his head for a long time and then suddenly stood up” with an urgent and earnest monologue: “No! Are not! I don’t want to live like this forever! I’m tired of this place that’s not mine! This bulky, rude body. I start to fear you, I just want to leave you at once! If my soul has a form of its own, let it separate from this body, even for a moment.”

Thus, the soul is in a state of extreme frustration and suffering. The exclamations and rushes along with the restless desire of the soul speak for themselves. The soul is frustrated because it can’t get out of that disgusting body, disgusted because I am no longer myself. In the dialogue with the flesh, the soul is the weak point, the indisputable weakness because of the people. what the body says whether it’s true or false, whether it wants to or not the soul must also admit it. That’s the night when the soul stood next to the dead body, “hands and feet trembled”; “hot breath”; “throat choked” and almost…”. That is the feeling of “fluttering” before the food that the soul did not like before and considered it “fam”. The soul was disgusted when he slapped his son “bloody mouth and nose”,… All of this is true. The corpse also recalls in detail the truths that make the soul feel even more ashamed. The soul makes excuses for itself by reasoning: “I still live a private life, intact, clean, straightforward.” but was ridiculed and scorned by the corpse.

For the Carcass of the Butcher: In the dialogue between the spirit of the father and the flesh of the butcher, the corpse prevailed, so he gloatedly laughed and continuously poured out mocking and disparaging words with long lines with a voice that was sometimes sarcastic. Tomorrow, I will show up to teach life, criticize, mock. The soul only let go of short lines with a timid voice accompanied by groans and pitiful cries. The wise body, knowing that it was a mistake, knew how to find a way to justify itself with the argument: “is the situation” or “also worthy of respect”, not guilty. The soul only reacts weakly: “But… But”… Recognizing that the Soul is cornered, the body makes a contract to compromise to live together in a gentle voice, caress the soul, and the body takes the initiative. “Soul game”: “When you are alone, you can think that you have a noble inner soul, just because of the situation, because in order to live, you have to give in to me. After doing a bad thing you just blame me, let you rest in peace… as long as… you still do all sorts of things to satisfy my cravings.” Hearing the body’s words, the soul perceives the body’s “mean reason” and cries out desperately and helplessly: “God! It was an acceptance of fate in excruciating pain trying to find a way out but being completely helpless.”

Through the dialogue between the soul and the body, clear confirmation has emerged with the preponderance of the one who holds the grip, holds the upper hand, proves his authority over the soul. Soul and body are inherently inseparable, both must complement and complete each other. Therefore, the struggle between the soul and the exact is the struggle between the soul – the body, the material – the spirit, the content – the form, the instinct – the ideal, the sublime – the banal in every human being. between the nobility between the human part and the human part.

This is also a warning and a message from Luu Quang Vu to readers and viewers. When people live long in a profane environment, they will certainly be influenced and influenced by it. When people, no matter how high they are, are governed by the essential needs of their instincts, it is certainly not possible to blame the body. After all, the two are just one, having influence on each other.

It is not possible to comfort and soothe oneself with the metaphysical beauty of the soul, so it is necessary to perfect oneself in a comprehensive way. Self-improvement is a way to contribute to building a rich and beautiful civilized society. The struggle between the soul and the body is a long and persistent struggle in every human being in this world.

Through the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the flesh of a butcher, Luu Quang Vu sends his warning into it: when people live in vulgarity, vulgarity will surely reign and prevail, leading people to live in vulgarity. into alienation, gradually overwhelm the noble, pure and good.

Life is not only encapsulated in our essential needs, but also many things that need to be cared for and reconciled. The struggle between the soul and the body is the struggle between morality and sin, between desire and ambition and lust, common desire, between mediocrity and greatness, between the child and the human part. every day, every hour in every human being.

Analysis of the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the flesh of the butcher No. 3

Can’t be inside one side and outside the other. I want to be whole me. That is the tragedy of Truong Ba’s soul, the main character in the play Truong Ba’s soul, the butcher’s skin after having to reside in the butcher’s body. But it is also the aspiration of all true lives. The philosophy about the relationship between soul and body set forth by playwright Luu Quang Vu in the play is really profound.

Through the dialogue between Truong Ba’s soul and the butcher’s body, writer Luu Quang Vu also expressed his views on the value and relationship between the soul and the body of man: “Can humans be keep yourself noble spiritual values when you have to accept living with vulgarity, can you avoid alienation when you have to regularly satisfy petty material desires?”

Tragedy (according to the Literary Dictionary): is the conflict between an individual’s aspirations, ambitions, and ideals with reality; In the ordinary sense, tragedy is a persistent torment that has no way to relieve it. Truong Ba, through the above dialogue, faced the tragedy of having to live off, live on, live without being himself; consciousness is gradually corrupted with extreme suffering and Truong Ba’s way of dealing with his own tragedy.

Rewrite fairy tales – a genre that is always full of happy endings. Meanwhile, real life is always different. Like many writers of the same time, Luu Quang Vu is trying to use his work to dialogue with fairy tales, by recreating life in the way it exists. Therefore, the dramatic situation in Truong Ba’s Soul, the butcher’s skin was built starting from the end of the folk tale. In this way, this postmodern playwright wants to pose many new issues with profound ideological, philosophical and humanistic significance. From a philosophical perspective on the relationship between soul and body, Luu Quang Vu’s play has both inherited the folk concept but also has many new points.

After the mistakes and corrections of the heavenly people, in order to continue living, Truong Ba’s soul had to rely on the butcher’s crude body, which was the unnatural adversity that Truong Ba’s soul forced. must accept and submit. Having to live on external material factors, not being able to live with your real self, completely depending on the vulgar living situation, being dominated and dictated by it – that is the most painful tragedy of human life. people. The tragic situation of Truong Ba with tremendous power, the irresistible temptation of vulgarity and banality has been concretized in the butcher’s body.

When he was just resurrected in the butcher’s body, Truong Ba’s soul panicked when he looked in the mirror: No! Not me. Where’s my face? Where are my limbs? This person is not me. But then, in order to live, Truong Ba had to accept. Accept the changes to the deviant, accept the bondage of the situation, accept being moved to an unwanted life of mediocrity. Not long after residing in the butcher’s body, in Truong Ba, rapid corruption took place. Truong Ba’s corruption does not stop at actions dependent on the flesh anymore, even Truong Ba’s soul has changed, from the way of life, the way of thinking, the way to behave and the way to teach children, …

The butcher’s flesh has shown the inevitable corruption of Truong Ba’s soul when he had to rely on it to survive: Thanks to me, he was able to work and dig. He looked at heaven and earth, trees, loved ones, etc. He felt this world through my senses. When he had to accept the irony of circuTaxances in order to continue to live, Truong Ba was barely able to live in his own way, existing through a body that was not his. Truong Ba’s wife noticed a change in her husband: Now every meal he eats eight or nine bowls of rice, and often asks for alcohol. In the past, Truong Ba was calm and gentle towards everyone, and especially never hit his children. But now, in front of his son’s words of truth, Truong Ba has slapped him hard until he bleeds.

With the hand that killed the pig while extracting the orange tree, Truong Ba broke the young bud, his feet were as big as a shovel, stepped on the precious ginseng that had just been nursed, when repairing the kite for Cu Ti, he broke the spokes, torn the paper, damaged the beautiful kite that Cu Ti treasured so much. The Girl called him an old butcher, found him ugly, very evil, and chased him away like a criminal, Get out! Go away old butcher! Uncle Truong Hoat, a chess friend who loved Truong Ba very much, also had to say honestly: he was always full of yeast (…) he had lost his wine! Everyday bad habits damage people’s souls and brains! While playing chess, Truong Hoat had to exclaim: No one wants to eat that country!… His playing style is different from the old days. At first glance, the way to enter the chess is still the same as before, but after that… No longer the bold, bold, and profound days before. Your way of advancing and defending is now petty, petty and rough. But the drink just now said sorry, it was so mean!

The tragedy of Truong Ba’s suffering is expressed through confusion, misery, stalemate and victory by the brazen but convincing arguments of the flesh. That is the reason why Truong Ba’s soul fell into a state of helplessness before the terrible command of the body. Having to let his pure and noble soul live in the flesh of the butcher, deeply aware that he is being assimilated, Truong Ba’s soul finds it more and more impossible to accept the way of life inside and outside. aside from that. The only way to help Truong Ba escape the tragedy is to give up the body: “There is no need for the life you bring!”

The opinion that raises the question of life has great meaning that Luu Quang Vu conveys through the dialogue: Can people keep their noble spiritual values when accepting to live with vulgarity, can they avoid it? get alienated when often? Truong Ba has a life, but it is a shameful life because he has to live on the butcher’s rough body, being dominated, assimilated and even manipulated by it, compromising in a false way of living with himself. , with people.

Having to take refuge in the flesh of a butcher, despite insisting that I still have a life of my own: intact, clean, straightforward, but as clear as the flesh of the flesh said: I am the situation that he was forced to submit. That submission made Truong Ba’s soul different in everyone’s eyes. From that inevitable change, playwright Luu Quang Vu wants to convey a profound philosophy: Soul and body are two aspects of existence in every human being. Is it possible to live without the form, the body? But can human life be reduced to purely instinctive needs? Do not neglect the body to know only an abstract general soul that does not belong to anyone in this world. Do not follow the desires of the body but return to the original wilderness. The struggle between the soul and the flesh is the struggle between morality and sin, between desire and lust, between the human part and the child part in each person.

If in folk tales, living is a great happiness, so despite carrying the body of a butcher but Truong Ba still lives a happy life, in Luu Quang Vu’s play, he has to take refuge in his raw body. The butcher’s arrogance is an absurd, unnatural, ironic situation that Truong Ba’s soul is forced to accept and submit to. This is the crux of the tragedy named Truong Ba’s soul, the butcher’s skin.

Before his own change, before everyone’s thoughts about him, Truong Ba’s soul was extremely miserable. Many times in the script, Luu Quang Vu has described the moody face of Truong Ba’s soul: sad, miserable, annoyed, covering his ears, like despair, lethargy, sitting down with his hands over his head, face silent. It means that Truong Ba’s soul was deeply aware of the tragedy of his life, feeling pain, shock, and confusion when he realized that his body was invading and overtaking his soul. forgiving that soul. The voice, the triumphant, snobbish laughter of the corpse is echoing here and there, the faint soul of that poor Mr. Truong Ba, you can’t be separated from me… And then, a break, just shocked, bitter, led to a decisive decision, pushing the situation into a more intense, drastic situation: But could I give in to you, surrender to you and lose myself? ; There’s no other way! you say like that? But is there really no other way? No need for the life you bring! No need!. The inner monologues exposed the fierce and painful storm in the struggle to regain oneself from the rough hand of the evil instinct in the character Truong Ba. All led to action: Stand up, stammer, but resolutely burn incense, light a fire to call Di Thich.

Meeting the people of heaven, Truong Ba’s soul decided that he could not continue to carry the butcher’s body anymore, because he could not be inside one side and the other outside. I want to be whole me. He refused life when Emperor Thich allowed him to enter Ti’s body. He also overcame his obsession with the terrifying nothingness of death when Emperor Shakyamuni said that out of the body, the soul is nothing… he will have nothing left, can’t participate in anything What joys and sorrows! Above all, Truong Ba’s soul accepted that I was dead, let me die completely.

Like everyone in this life, Truong Ba is also eager to live, the more he longs to live with the people he loves and also loves him very much. But when experiencing the tragedy of Truong Ba’s soul, when faced with the tragedy of a life that is not his own, Truong Ba affirms bitterly and poignantly: Living like this, it is more painful than death. With a benevolent person like Truong ba, he was still tormented by his borrowed, fake life that had brought so much suffering to his loved ones, making his family seem to be about to fall apart… Those were too expensive prices. for both Truong Ba and his family, a price he could not pay even for his own precious life.

Deciding to erase the existence of the monstrous creature named Truong Ba’s soul, the butcher’s skin, it was a brave choice of Truong Ba’s soul. Accepting death, accepting nothingness to be a complete me, is the result of the struggle in a noble, pure soul, overcoming adversity. Accepting death, Truong Ba found the purity of his soul. Being incarnated into simple, close and dear objects, which forever exist in the memory and love of loved ones, the great sound at the end of the play has blown into people’s hearts a light breeze with a Optimism: belief in the final victory of Beauty and Good.

Emphasizing the human soul, which is the meeting point, gathering of folk and philosophical conceptions about the relationship between soul and body of postmodern playwright Luu Quang Vu in the play “Spirit Truong Ba”, butcher skin. Of course, Luu Quang Vu’s new creative point is from a folk tale, the author has deeply exploited the dramatic contradictions from the relationship between soul and body to send a profound philosophical message: Living as a human being is really precious, but being able to live as you are, fully living your inherent values and pursuing is even more precious. Life only really has meaning when people live naturally with harmony between body and soul. Man must always struggle with adversities, with himself, against vulgarity, to perfect his personality and reach for noble spiritual values.

Tragedy Truong Ba is a warning about the negative effects of living circuTaxances on people – when people have to live in vulgarity, sooner or later, vulgarity will also reign, prevail, overwhelm and dominate. destroys what is pure, beautiful, and noble in people.

The conflict between Truong Ba’s noble soul and the mortal body of the butcher has portrayed the tragedy of alienation and the fierce struggle to protect and perfect the human personality. Since then, the author has criticized a number of negative phenomena in society and sent a profound human philosophy about the need for unity between body and soul.
