Dad made four iron bars on the four sides like four very strong pillars. Above there are bamboo branches that are carefully separated and arranged into small squares for the melons to climb.

Day by day, the loofah branches were green with strong tassels clinging to the truss. Above, the flowers began to bloom, bright yellow like the sun and the fragrance attracted honey bees and butterflies to come here to suck nectar and fly.

Just a few days after the flower blooms, young fruits begin to emerge from the stigma. Those young fruits grow up very quickly, my friends. My mother also advised me that when looking at melons, don’t point or touch them because that will make melons shrivel from a young age and can’t be successful. So, at times like that, I can only look at them from an angle and eagerly wait for the melons to become big and long fruits.

When small, the melon still has brown flower residues underneath. After that, those flower remnants are gone, they begin to grow larger and longer. Outside the shell is a small and fluffy coat as if they were impervious to water. This is the time when I have to protect the melons the most because if they are stung by bees, they will all be damaged and cannot be eaten.

As the melons grow, the green color turns darker and can be cut down to eat. If you leave the loofah on the tree for too long, they will be old and dry, the skin is thick and no longer edible, you can only wash the dishes with the loofah and dry the seeds for future years.
